"Love is the passionate and abiding desire on the part of two people to produce TOGETHER the conditions under which each can be, and spontaneously express his real self; to produce TOGETHER an intellectual soil and an emotional climate in which each can flourish far superior to what either could achieve alone.

i believe i was one of the lucky first to begin using flickr back in the day. i can't even remember when it all started really but i do remember it was all tied to my beginnings on ebay and then my switch to etsy.  there, on flickr, friends gradually began to flock around me.  i remember one of my first was jo from australia and through her i met firuzan from turkey.  these two women are kindred spirits, part of the yaya sisterhood as jo would say.  jo is playful and funny, an inventor of stories around her backyard pond, and a true kitchen aficionado.  ofcourse she dresses up

and plays house, serving fairy cakes and lemonade to all who enter her vintage laden home.

  jo is the funny one.

firuzan, on the other hand, is the lady, feminine to the hilt, soft, gentle and never out of place.

she, too weaves stories around her rose filled garden, making the most amazing papier mache dolls ever.

and her mother makes rose jam, can you believe? these friends i share with you today, enjoy.

the most beautiful thing about these friends is that i have never met tem in person yet they always remember me, always write to me, always fill me.

more about my chilean friends to come and the many others all over the world thanks to this incredible tool called the inter-net.

El Arrayan on Saturday

chile's social life is unending. not a weekend without invitations to barbecues, get togethers that last into the early morning, lots of conversations, mixed drinks and vistas.  friendships re-affirmed by common life experiences and love.  yesterday dagna invited a group of us to her house up in the hill.  during daylight we all gathered on the huge veranda, after dark around the fireplace and the kitchen island clinking cheers glasses, vowing to repeat the event at someones elses house in pirque.

I feel so loved

Back in the day it was pen pals. I used to have a couple of friends in Germany I used to write to and exchange postcards and photographs with. Now it is my cyber friends: over 100 on Facebook, all friends from my past in England and Chile, some who have moved to foreign countries and some here in America. But my favorites are my blog and Flickr friends, people I have met over the years becasue of common art tastes and similar values.

With this group of friends ever growing, I have more and more people to love. I get so much back from them, laughter, appreciation, admiration, support, empathy, wisdom and inspiration. I feel so loved.

Visiting friends

In spite of scarce time, I make it a point to visit my favorite friends' (blogs) every week to see what gifts they may have found along their way. This morning I stumbled upon the comments on Susan's blog and some of the poetry some of her friends had contributed:

I woke from a dream
warm open lyrics
rising gently
flowinglike music’s breath
a precious poet’s sweet grasping voice
howls tender joys
miles timeless clouds
like blessed kisses
on cheeks and faces
held in delicate hopes
until sweet night
and empty darkness
meets yellow light
and morning calm

and Susan's Haiku? sort of
his heart
wondrous
rare as red sea glass

and mine
the maiden soft
with shadows in her midst
replenishes her stream of Hope
with subtle gifts
of burnished threads
and folded treasured cloths
outcasting all her woes
on us
the kindred ghosts
rustling beside her

And once again Friendship

Yo tengo tantos hermanos.....

Free Again

(Shuttle Bug by Stephanie Rubiano)

Oh what a feeling of freedom. So many wonderful things happening in my new found journey. Jorge Salas called me all the way from Chile and we talked all about the past and his four failed marriages and how he loved me so at one time and the two daughters he has. One is named Canela Jesus, what a gorgeous name. I thought the creation pictured here may look a bit like her.

Visited my love Bill in Santa Barbara over the weekend. breakfast in bed, walks to have a night shot of wheat grass and a good movie (US Marshalls-I love Tommy Lee Jones) on the telly. Then a Cajun breakfast out on the town and back to sit and chat on the couch over coffee and friendship. Glorious after the droll of the last few months in Camarillo.

Saturday eve drove clear across the mountains into Topanga Canyon to visit Martin and Andrea. It was Andrea's birthday and all her friends from the canyon were there. Everybody brought some sort of home made salad or dish and I fell in love with Seth's seeweed, carrot and avocado salad. I must have repeated myself three times. Love music and dancing and a quiet night in that beautiful California place. Couldn't quite fall asleep so picked up one of Martin's books Son's and Lovers by D.H. Lawrence which I had missed and relished it tucked under Tylers comforter.

Jorge Figueroa arrived the next morning from Bahia, Brazil and we caught up on all the new ventures he is striking at. Farming in Bahia, a grape seed oil he is trying to produce in Chile and a new love there too by the name of Pilar. He is such a nice nice man; funny that he has stayed linked to the family since the mid 1970's. I guess he's part of the family now since her's living with Martin up in the canyon now too.

It's only Monday and I miss my Bill so much and Freddy is missing for two days now. Oh, well, every day has it's surprises. The ZNE poetry group has come up with some really funny poems lately and I'm glad I have been able to contribute something in spite of my dazed and confused state.

Guess what I got in the Mail today?

I am awe struck, dumbfounded, eccstatic, jumping for joy and weeping at the same time with Jodi's gift to me. My package arrived suddenly and surprisingly this morning with a knock on the door. It was a heavy box and huge. I fumbled desperately to get it open since I knew it was Jodi's handmade journal just for ME. But I was never expecting so much dedication; it is a work of art.

I just sat there staring at it, nodding my head in disbelief. She had worked each and every page with the utmost care and tenderness, thinking of what I like, what I cherish most in life. I still cannot believe it. It will remain a cherished treasure for me to look at over and over again, write in, add my poems and trip photos.

I FEEL SO LOVED! These are the cherished moments in Life that we never forget.
