embroidering Detentes on velvet
monday..... a new week awaits me. as i realize my accomplishments over the past five weeks (throwing away and letting go of so many things) i feel lighter. i have been sorting through photo albums, (why would i hang on to a photo of a sunset in 1978?), boxes full of paid bills, even old x-mas, birthday and thank you cards received over a lifetime. i have made a photographic image of them in my brain and they have now been put to rest. hanging on to the past, that's what i think i was unconsciously doing.

Poetry
Let us remember…that in the end we go to poetry
for one reason, so that we might more fully inhabit
our lives and the world in which we live them, and that
if we more fully inhabit these things,
we might be less apt to destroy both.

I must I must I must win the Sept. 5th. drawing KC Willis http://kcwillis.blogspot.com/2009/08/300-lipstick-ranch-shopping-spreeagain.html is having. Just so I can take JoAnna Pierotti's workshop in Colorado next year. JoAnna being the ultimate altered artist and a person I have had the luck to personally meet. I hope the Shopping Spree includes something related to the workshops.
so if you too are an admirer of KC WILLIS' fabric art, be sure to read her blog and possibly win a Lipstick Ranch day of shopping.

THE GREAT PRETENDER
more sewing, more beading, more applique, more lace and ribbons and freehand stitching. this seems to be my medium for the moment. but i'm so fickle when it comes to creating-one week i'll go all out with dolls, then paper, then fabric then i'll get the urge to paint. but always fabric and texture seem to be what really draws me inwards which is where i want to be.
Oh yes, I'm the great pretenderJust laughing and gay like a clownI seem to be what I'm not you seeI'm wearing my heart like a crownPretending that you're...Pretending that you're still around

i just love running into other people's etsy shops after they mark one of my items a favorite. etsy is so well set up that one can discover whole new worlds, see what other's imaginations are up to, how people make such efforts to supplement their incomes and how infinite the imagination can be. all be seeing who likes you.
case in point, my running into Glowtoes http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=5656849. her work just sparked the will to get back into sewing again, sitting for hours at my art table & playing with the mounds of fabric i have collected over the years.

U-HAUL
i think i'm almost done putting everything in its place, closeting clothes, xmas decorations in storage bin, all art supplies together and semi-sorted so i can begin to live again.
one of the fun things has been looking through old photo albums i hadn't looked at in years and finding some pretty amazing photographs. one night i sat up until 3 a.m looking through the three Baby Books and flashing back to their childhoods.
the hardest part of the move was transporting my 1000 plus books. although i sacrificed some, i just cannot bear to be without my books. they are my greatest joy and company. i cannot imagine a room without books. i had to use my china hutch as bookshelves since i just didn't have any built in in the new townhouse. they are so tight, it's hard to even take one out of its place.
at this point just about every nook and cranny is filled to the rim.
